The public boat launch ramp at Pepper Park in National City will be closed until April 2009 to allow for the design and construction of concrete retaining walls that will protect the rock slopes next to it. The concrete launch ramp was demolished and is being replaced with a new, eight-lane boat launching ramp and two, 10-foot wide boarding floats. Work was estimated to be completed by February, but will now be finished in April, to allow time to obtain an Army Corps of Engineers Permit
